How did you two meet?

Travell and I meet in September of 2012 in Greenville, NC, a few weeks after I moved there to attend East Carolina University's Master of Science in Nursing program. He first noticed me while my family was helping me move into my apartment in late August. We had also seen each other in passing, but did not have the opportunity to formally meet. Then one day, as he was returning home from, I was outside walking my dog, and he pulled into the parking lot and noticed me. He then speeds up in a hurry to park, so that he could introduce himself. He did not want to miss the opportunity that was going to change his life forever! I stood then in shock, thinking "oh my God, he's going to run us over". He then hops out of his truck, looking scrumptious in his police officer uniform with these huge biceps, and introduces himself and gives me this number. I sent him a text that night and the next day he took me for a ride on his motorcycle. We then started hanging out almost daily. Within 2 weeks, he knew he wanted me to be his girlfriend. I knew from our first few weeks of getting to know each other that he was the one. I can remember saying to myself "this is the guy you take home to mom and dad, and you marry".

How did s/he pop the question?

Travell took me to pick out a ring in July 2017. So everyday afterwards, I was anxiously waiting for him to pop the question, especially on holidays or special occasions. I made sure I kept my nails manicured. He tried really hard to surprise me, but I spent everyday prepared and asking when. The jeweler even made the mistake of calling my cell phone when my ring was ready for pick up. Knowing that he had my ring made me more anxious. He then decided he would propose in the comfort of our home after realizing that he was going to have a really hard time surprising me. One day, he sent me a picture hinting that he had my ring. He knew I had searched our house from top to bottom looking for it, but I could never find it. Then on the evening of March 2, 2018, he decided to send me on a scavenger hunt around our house looking for my ring. When I came down the hallway and turned to enter our bedroom there he was on one knee asking me to marry him.

Any advice on the perfect proposal?

Your proposal should be a special, and thoughtful reflection of your relationship.

How long have you two been together?

We have been together for a little over 5 years.

What do you love most bout your partner?

Ashley: The one thing I love most about Travell is his dedication to everything his commits to.

Whether its his job, as police officer, or our relationship. He goes above and beyond his duties as an officer and he truly does whatever it takes to keep me smiling. He knows me so well and I'm so grateful for him wanting to put up with my shenanigans for an eternity. He's my best friend and everyday I'm excited to spend it with him.

Travell: The thing I love most about Ashley is how big her heart is and her selflessness. She's always wanting to help others without expecting anything in return. She tells me that she's the luckiest girl in the world, but I'm the lucky one!

Where is the Ceremony? Reception?

Our wedding ceremony and reception is going to be held at 1705 East in Raleigh, NC.

Tell me about the details you’re most excited about for your upcoming wedding!

I think we are both thrilled about eating cake! Our cake is going to be made by Cake Couture who is absolutely amazing at what she does. I am also excited about doing a first look with my future husband, and with my father. I decided to do a first look because Travell and I are private people, and I want that moment to be between he and I. I want us to be able to have one private moment together before the ceremony begins and the reception takes place, since we likely will not have another moment to ourselves until the day has ended.

What style do you envision for your wedding day?

My style is more old world elegant and rustic, and Travell's is more modern. We're looking forward planning a concept that has the perfect balance of both of our styles.

What do you want to remember about you two right now?

I want to always remember how excited we are to plan our wedding together and how eager we are to begin our lives as together as husband and wife. We both get overly excited about the things we look forward to planning and doing together as husband and wife.
